Last week the Tour de France started. I consider this event to be one of the best sporting events in the world! Living in the Alps, France, it’s usually not a problem for me to go and support the riders as the event comes to the area every year.
I’ve been supporting the teams and riders for the last ten years.
I'm a huge fan of Team Ineos Grenadiers, and of course Chris Froome.
This year I managed to get some VIP invitations for the start village thanks to Israel Premier Tech. Massive Thanks to them!
After spending the whole day meeting the Teams and riders, the following day it was my turn to be on the bike. I joined a small race organised by the valley. The race started from Les Menuires and travelled up a new road in the middle of the mountains, going up to the top of the mountain between Les Menuires and Maribel. It was a pretty steep 7k climb, hitting 23% climb on the last stretch!
Although It wasn’t my first intense bike ride I'd ever done, I’m actually the local legend on Strava, it was pretty brutal; especially being quite heavy in weight!
Check out the photo of me at the end!
If you haven't ever checked out the Tour de France, you definitely should!
I was lucky enough to win a cycling jersey in the start village on the first day of the event which I then wore during my cycling race the next day. I will definitely be wearing it again on my next ride, and I look forward to supporting the event same time next year!
This month I am focussing on my fitness, and cycling is one of my favourite sports to take part in ...after Skiing of course!
