I spent just over two months in NZ training and racing in august through to mid-October.
I raced in a mixture of FIS races, including the New Zealand national champs, Coronet cup and some ANC (Australia New Zealand Cup)
In the first two sets of slalom races, (FIS races in Cardrona, NZ champs and the Coronet cup). I got two firsts and two seconds as well as two PB’s. This also brought my points low enough to meet the minimum selection criteria for the World Junior Championships again.
In another race later on in the camp I had a very good first run in the race where In another race, I was sitting in first place after run one in a race with lots of high level athletes including world cup skiers.
In the second run the race then runs top 30 flipped so I was last to ski the course, so the course was a bit rutted, and I unfortunately crashed out.
We trained on the hill every morning and then back for lunch prepared by our chef that we brought out to NZ with us then it was time to prep skis for the next days training or races. Then every afternoon we had a CrossFit session at the local CrossFit session in Queenstown.
New Zealand is a pretty cool place, and we made the most of our time out there so on days of we did lots of fun activities like bungi jumping, go karting, going on a rope swing into the lake and a horse ride through the amazing country side.
I then did a little bit of a road trip and some traveling for two weeks round NZ and Australia. Again doing lots of fun activities like dirt biking, surfing, mountain biking and seeing all the cool animals, while doing physical training before heading home for a bit of a break.
I am now back home training in the gym preparing for the European season.
The next big competitions for me are now at the beginning of next year hopefully the World junior champs if I get reselected for that and the British champs are in March.
