Snowshepherd Antarctic Expedition Mittens designed to be super warm right down to -50c they are extremely durable, water resistant, breathable and the perfect choice if your peaking Everest or standing for hours in the mountains coaching.

Construction

Leather palms with reinforced area, we are using our new Snowshepherd water resistant leather, this is achieved in the tanning process, so the leather is fully treated all the way through.

On the cuff and back of the glove we use Cordura® which is 100% waterproof, windproof, non-porous, water beads up and rolls off, Cordura is extremely hard wearing with an exceedingly high tear and scuff resistance.

We only use materials that can handle extreme low temperatures, the nylon and plastic used is rated down to -50c. We extended the cuff, so it fits well up the forearm and over the jacket for a good weather seal. These mittens are a full 2 inch longer than our standard mittens.

The inside of the mitten is fully open, no individual fingers like on our Guide Pro Mittens.

The mittens also come with our new wrist straps to keep your gloves safely attached.

Insulation

Insulation is 2 fold a huge 600g of 3M™ Thinsulate™, our factory make gloves for the military where they need a warm glove but not too thick, they have developed a process to reduce the bulk of the insulation but maintain all its warmth. Added to this there is a soft micro fleece liner and another baffle of 200g of cotton, which brings the grams to more like 800g of Thinsulate.

We also use a 2mm layer of Neoprene behind the Cordura® on the back of the gloves, this area of your hand is exposed more to the elements therefore the neoprene adds extra warmth and protection.

So, who are these gloves for?

If you’re on a High-Altitude Expedition, peaking Everest or a low activity holiday to the Arctic or suffer from very cold hands then these mittens are perfect.

We were asked by Ski Instructors and Race Trainers and Coaches, who spend a good proportion of their time in a low activity mode, in very cold temperatures. For a mitten that guarantees to keep your hands toasty warm and dry but would still have the dexterity to handle the necessary tasks on the mountain.

They are also perfect for Winter Sports News Presenters and Race Marshalls or anyone spending time in the mountains when a super warm glove is needed.

Our regular customers know that our prices are good as we are direct with the factory who make our gloves so no middlemen or distributors to inflate the price,
