In my last blog, I spoke about how my pre-season training ended early with a dislocated shoulder in Austria.

With that early blow to the season I was determined to get back riding as soon as possible. The hard part was that I had to rest for a few days to let the swelling and numbness go away. That meant no skating, no weightlifting, no skiing and no running.

When I was home I saw my physiotherapist in Birmingham University luckily through the aid of TASS (talented athlete scholarship scheme). Without the aid of Tass I wouldn’t have had the help from the physiotherapists and doctors who gave me the best advice and help to MRI scans etc. I went to the campus to see the physio twice a week to start with and going to the gym in between to keep up my strength.

In December I took a small break away in Cornwall over Christmas and New year’s eve with family . It was a fun little surfing trip, plus helping the shoulder get back to its full strength. I got a nice Christmas present through the post from Planks, a new clothing sponsorship with loads of new bits for the season!

In the first week of the new year I had one of my last physio sessions giving me the all clear to be able to ride and train again. This meant my shoulder was back to 90% in 2 months of rehab which is pretty quick! On the next day I rode at my local dome in Tamworth (Snowdome). Even learning a new trick! (Switch Right 450 on, continuing 450 off). I met a little skier called Jenson who wanted to take a picture with me and Tom Greenway who skis in the GB A team which was kind of him since he said he looks up to me and I still look up to Tom from when I was a kid!

I am now looking forward to my return to Austria shortly, looking forward to getting my doubles back. Also to get some training in for some Europa Cups!! This is just the start of my season:)
